What is Kisi?
Kisi is a smart door access system. When connected to Arketa, it automatically unlocks your gym door only when a member checks in through the Arketa custom mobile app.
How to Set Up the Integration
Note: Kisi works with the Location check in (gym check in) feature, so make sure this is toggled on under Settings > General Business Settings. See this page on how the location check in works.
Follow these steps to connect Kisi to your Arketa account:
Buy a Kisi Controller
You’ll need a Kisi Controller Pro to get started. You can purchase it here:

Create a Kisi Account
Sign up and set up your Kisi account at www.kisi.io.Connect Kisi in Arketa
Log into your Arketa dashboard
Go to Settings > Integrations
Click on Kisi
Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your Kisi API key
Requirements
Custom App: A custom Arketa app is required to use Kisi integration. Standard Arketa apps do not support Kisi.
Kisi Hardware: Customers must purchase Kisi access hardware directly from Kisi:
Setup in Arketa
Enable Check-In: From your Arketa Dashboard → General Business Settings:
Turn on Enable Client Check-In
Turn on Enable Gym Check-In
Configure Price Options:
In the Price Option settings, check “Allow clients to check in at a location using this price option.”
Only members with an active, eligible price option will be able to unlock doors.- Be aware that having multiple memberships (e.g., an old plan without door access and a new plan with access) can cause access issues. Refer to the troubleshooting section for resolution steps.
App Access:
Members must be logged into your custom Arketa app to use Kisi.
How Members Unlock Doors
General Members: Use the floating “Check-In” button in the app to unlock the door.
Class Attendees: See an Unlock Door button in their profile. This button is active 1 hour before and 1 hour after their scheduled session.
How Does It Work?
Once connected, Kisi works with check-ins made through the Arketa custom mobile app.
When a client checks in via the app, the Kisi system will automatically unlock the gym door.
Note: Kisi does not allow for check-ins made through web.## Troubleshooting Common Issues
Membership Configuration:
The Arketa–Kisi integration sends an unlock request only when the client checks in with a pricing option that explicitly allows door access at that location.
If a client has multiple memberships (e.g., an old plan without door access and a new plan with access), they may inadvertently check in under the plan that does not include door access.
To resolve this, ensure that the active pricing option used for check-in includes door access for the specific location. Additionally, cancel or deactivate older, conflicting memberships to avoid confusion.- Kisi is solely used for unlocking doors and does not handle student or class attendance check-ins.
Clients do not need to install the Kisi app separately — Arketa handles the unlock request via API in the background.
