Automatic waitlisting requires a payment method to be available before a client is moved off the waitlist. Because of this, drop-in payment options are not supported. You may see clients receive this message when trying to book:
When Automatic Waitlisting Works
Automatic waitlisting can only be used when:
The class is set to "Package and Subscription" payment
A Pricing Option is connected directly to the class
The class is not set to:
Free
Donation
Paid (drop-in)
If these conditions are met, clients will already have a valid payment method or credit on file when a spot opens.
How Do I Make a Class “Package and Subscription” Only?
You can update the payment type from either Full Schedule or Service Types, depending on how broadly you want the change to apply.
Full Schedule
Go to Full Schedule
Edit the class
Under Step 3: Pricing Settings, change Select Payment Type to Package and Subscription
Service Types
Entire Service Type
Go to Setup > Service Type
Edit the service type
On the first page under Step 1: Overview, set Select Payment Type to Package and Subscription
Certain Class Instances Within a Service Type
Go to Setup > Service Type
Click into the service type
Select the specific class instance you want to edit
Edit the class and under Step 3: Pricing Settings, change Select Payment Type to Package and Subscription
Workaround for Free Classes
If you offer a free class and want to use automatic waitlisting, we recommend:
Creating a 1-credit package priced at $0
Connecting that package only to the free class
This ensures clients have a credit on file and can be automatically moved off the waitlist when a spot opens.
Alternative Option
If drop-in payments are required, you can:
Turn off automatic waitlisting
With automatic waitlisting disabled:
Clients are notified when a spot opens
Clients manually reserve the spot
Payment is collected at the time of reservation
